Blood and the school
Workers, not thinkers

The line is older than the internet. Industrial philanthropy wanted a population that could staff plants, offices, clinics, and schools, not a population of unlicensed metaphysicians. You do not need a secret handshake to see it. You need the grant reports. Rockefeller money did not have to be a cartoon cabal. It only had to fund the institutions that later decided what counted as serious. That is already social engineering, and it is a family doing it. A house with a fortune is a bloodline with a budget. I am willing to say that without turning it into a ghost story.
Mental hygiene is the ancestor of a lot of the modern mental-health stack. The National Committee for Mental Hygiene took Rockefeller money once its surveys were organized. Foundation reports in the 1930s talked about training the public into adjustable, productive people. Adjustable is the tell. A worker who can be retimed is the product. A thinker who will not drop a strange question is a defect in the product. The academy still speaks this way when it calls a live anomaly pseudoscience and closes the file. That is not rigor by itself. That is homeostasis.
The method is steady. Fund the school. Fund the journal. Fund the popular explainer. Call the rival anti-science. In Einstein's era, a physics argument could be smeared as ethnic hatred so the argument never had to be had. Tesla versus Edison is the folk version of the same fight: centralized, metered, institution-friendly power versus an awkward inventor. You can decline the folk cartoon and still notice which model got the philanthropy, the textbooks, and the skeptic beat. The beat is a job. It is staffed by people who are good at it. Some of them are gifted ridicule artists. Gift is not the same thing as truth.
Here is the part the last version of this page flinched on, so I will say it in my own voice. I believe bloodlines carry qualities. I believe some people are built with more nerve, more pattern-recognition, more stubbornness, more of a dozen other uneven gifts, and that a school cannot mint those gifts out of a slogan about equality. Nurture is real. It is not the whole animal. The popular academic consensus, the one that says we are all equal raw material and the environment writes the person, is the consensus this desk rejects. It is useful to a philanthropy that wants workers. It is a bad description of a family.
What I file, then, is specific. Institutions, gifts, marriages of convenience, stated goals, and the houses that hold them. A surname inside a real dynasty is evidence. A surname used as a magic word for millions of strangers is a blur. I do not need the blur. The particular is sharper, and it is more damning, because a particular gift and a particular fortune can be read. "Everyone is the same, so nobody planned this" cannot be read. It can only be repeated.
If the academy only certifies what already fits the worker-not-thinker product, then parapsychology, vacuum engineering, and anomalous testimony get the same stamp. Pseudoscience, case closed. That stamp is not a finding. The ESP study, the Navy patents, and the ranges in the UFO file are not hereby true because a foundation disliked them. They are hereby not closed by the stamp alone. Keep the anomalous data on the table when it is politically expensive. Especially then. A society that cannot do that will not invent. It will only staff. I would rather look, and be wrong in public, than staff.
Still looking. Not the last word.
